Is counting calories really healthy?
Hopefully, you already know the answer to this question. No, because you want your diet to to be balanced. As you know, fat/carb/protein all have different numbers of kcals per grams. So, by counting calories if you have a lot of fat you'll reach your EER faster. But, your diet will be lacking carbs, proteins, and many essential vitamins and minerals!!

While I do agree that counting calories is certainly not the only diet one should go by, I think that at times it can be important. The number one why to a healthy lifestyle is to by having a balanced diet, but I think for some people counting calories as a part of this healthy diet is important. Even if a person is not trying to lose weight, it is helpful to know where you are in relation to your EER, and to get a general understanding of how many calories are in foods you consume regularly.
